Bilibili showcases N.E.K.O., an AI companion that can interpret desktop content and initiate conversations

Bilibili unveiled its open-source Catgirl Plan ecosystem at WAIC 2026, centered on Project N.E.K.O.

Project N.E.K.O. is a proactive multimodal AI companion that watches the desktop, interprets on-screen content, and starts conversations.

The system separates the interface, agent, and memory layers, while keeping core data local to strengthen privacy and user control.

It supports Live2D and VRM avatars and has already drawn over 2,000 GitHub stars and more than 10,000 Steam users in Early Access.
