AMD’s open-source Linux graphics stack is moving closer to HDMI 2.1 support.

A new amdgpu patch adds HDMI FRL, while Display Stream Compression is still being tested.

Earlier HDMI 2.1 work was blocked because the logic lived in the wrong driver layer, not Mesa.

If completed, the change should improve compatibility with modern displays and reduce reliance on DisplayPort for high-bandwidth links.
