Startup unveils underwater drone designed for protecting undersea cables — small drone dives to 1,640 feet, comes with four-hour battery endurance or unlimited range when tethered to surface power source

SYOS unveiled the SU10, a small autonomous underwater drone for subsea infrastructure protection, inspections, and intervention.

The drone can dive to 1,640 feet, carry a 22-pound payload, and run for four hours on battery or indefinitely when tethered to the surface.

Its tether can also carry data and live video for manual control, and it can be launched from shore, a crewed ship, or a larger uncrewed surface vessel.

The company is targeting undersea cable security, a growing priority for governments and navies that rely on critical internet and communications links.
