AMD exec was ‘very happy’ to see Nvidia‘s Vera performance results – ‘I actually thought we were beating them by smaller numbers’

AMD said Nvidia’s published Vera CPU SPEC results gave it a useful baseline to compare against its own Zen 6 Venice chips.

In AMD’s estimated SPEC CPU 2026 testing, Venice reportedly showed about a 20% per-core performance lead over Vera.

AMD framed the comparison as more apples-to-apples because the benchmark data came from a similar public SPEC methodology.

The results could influence expectations for next-generation server CPUs and how benchmark setup shapes perceptions of leadership.
