Innovative startup pioneers 3D printing with recycled glass — new ‘binder jet’ process combines powder with adhesive agent in layering technique

Vitriform3D, with support from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has developed a patent-pending binder jet 3D printing process that uses crushed post-consumer glass as feedstock.

The company is already turning recycled glass into commercial products such as kitchen countertops, floor tiles, and wall accents.

The method could give waste glass a higher-value second life while using less energy than traditional glass recycling.

If scaled, the approach could become a practical circular-economy model for manufacturing with discarded glass.
