Japanese researchers have transmitted data at 112 Gbps without cables: the key lies in a tiny technology

Japanese researchers demonstrated a first-of-its-kind wireless link above 420 GHz using a compact microcomb system.

The team from Tokushima University and Gifu University achieved 84 Gbps with QPSK and 112 Gbps with 16QAM in the 560 GHz band.

The result helps address major technical limits in the sub-THz range above 350 GHz.

It could pave the way for ultra-high-capacity 6G infrastructure and future backhaul links.
