Intel closes out RAMP-C production pilot that paid Nvidia and others to run test chips on 18A — program helped lay a path for secure domestic chip production on advanced processes

Intel Foundry has completed the government-backed RAMP-C pilot for its 18A chip process.

The program paid partners including Nvidia, Microsoft, IBM, Qualcomm, Boeing, and Northrop Grumman to run test chips on an early 18A design kit.

Intel says the effort helped refine its Secure Enclave manufacturing flow and provided key performance, power, area, and cost data for 18A.

The company did not announce any new customers, but the pilot supports Intel’s push for secure, domestic advanced chip production.
