US neighbor switches on world’s first carbon capture system for gas turbines

Entropy Inc. has brought its Glacier Phase 2 CCS project online at the Glacier Gas Plant in Alberta, making it the world’s first commercial post-combustion carbon capture system on a natural-gas turbine.

The system captures more than 90% of CO₂ from a new 15 MW gas turbine and related plant exhaust, then compresses and injects it underground for storage.

The project is designed to capture up to 192,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year.

It demonstrates a potential scalable path to low-carbon, reliable electricity from natural gas while supporting grid stability.
