Stop Killing Games Movement Sees Major Victory

California’s Assembly passed AB-1921, the Protect Our Games Act, in a win for the Stop Killing Games campaign.

The bill would require game companies to give 60 days’ notice before shutting down server-dependent titles.

Publishers would also need to preserve playability offline or via fan-hosted servers, or offer refunds.

The measure now heads to the California Senate, while similar consumer-rights efforts continue in Europe amid industry pushback.
