World First: Orangutan Filmed Using a Human-Made Bridge

A Sumatran orangutan was filmed crossing a human-made canopy bridge in North Sumatra for the first time.

The bridge is one of five installed in 2024 by conservation groups and local authorities over a road in Pakpak Bharat district.

The sighting is a conservation milestone for a critically endangered species, showing a practical way to reconnect fragmented rainforest habitat and reduce road risk.
