Scientists Discover Massive Alien “Exosatellite”

Astronomers using ESO’s Very Large Telescope found a Jupiter-mass object in the CD-35 2722 system, about 72 light-years away.

The object orbits a brown dwarf that itself orbits a star, so it does not fit neatly into standard moon or planet categories.

The discovery team proposed calling it an “exosatellite,” but other researchers say it is simply a planet or another substellar body.

The case is challenging current definitions and could influence how astronomers classify complex multi-body systems beyond our solar system.
