Slack adds 30 AI features to Slackbot, its most ambitious update since the Salesforce acquisition

Slack announced more than 30 new Slackbot capabilities, including six that recast it from a chatbot into an autonomous digital coworker.

New abilities let Slackbot take meeting notes across any video provider, run outside the Slack desktop app, execute tasks via the Model Context Protocol (MCP) with third‑party tools, and act as a lightweight CRM for small businesses.

Slackbot became generally available on January 13 for Business+ and Enterprise+ subscribers; Slack was acquired by Salesforce for $27.7 billion in 2021.

Slack positions this release as a step toward an "agentic operating system" and a single surface connecting AI agents, enterprise apps, and workers; the feature is on track to be Salesforce's fastest‑adopted product in its 27‑year history.

Customers report large time savings—some employees save up to 90 minutes per day; inside Salesforce, teams report up to 20 hours per week saved, translating to more than $6.4 million in estimated productivity value—and Slack directly challenges Microsoft Copilot.
