Daewoong Bio begins clinical trial of third-generation antibiotics... synergy from '55 billion won cephalosporin plant' rises

Daewoong Bio has received approval from the MFDS for the bioequivalence study plan of DWB-CX26 and has begun development of the cephodoxime proxetil generic.

The product is scheduled for clinical testing from this August through next August, entering the mature 3rd-generation cephalosporin market as a late mover.

The company aims to leverage its new cephalosporin-only plant, built with an investment of more than KRW 55 billion, and vertical integration from API to finished drug to improve efficiency and supply stability.

The move is also intended to raise utilization of the dedicated plant and complete Daewoong Bio’s oral cephalosporin lineup from 1st to 3rd generation.
