LinkedIn is scanning browsers for thousands of Chrome extensions and device data, report says

A Fairlinked report and BleepingComputer testing found LinkedIn injects a script that scans visitors' browsers for 6,236 Chrome extensions.

The script also collects device telemetry like CPU cores, memory, screen size, time zone, language, and battery status.

Fairlinked says the data may be sent to HUMAN Security; LinkedIn says it scans to detect scraping and policy-violating extensions.

A German court rejected an injunction seeking to block LinkedIn's account actions related to automated data collection.
