Legendary Windows developer codes Task Manager for the Mac, says Apple’s ‘Activity Monitor blows’ — Microsoft gave original Windows Task Manager dev permission to reference Windows XP source code

Dave W. Plummer, the original Windows Task Manager developer, is porting a Task Manager app to macOS in Swift and says it is now in beta.

He says the app may be released free on the App Store, and could be opened to others later if he stops working on it.

Microsoft allowed him to reference and demo Windows XP Task Manager source code, but the Mac project uses no original code.

If finished, it could offer Mac users a more powerful system monitor and process manager than Apple’s built-in Activity Monitor.
