AMD’s 256-core Epyc 9996 ‘Venice’ claims up to a 3.4x jump over Intel Xeon competition, 20% over Nvidia Vera – Zen 6 comes with up to 1024MB of L3, 16-channel memory, and 5GHz+ clock speeds

AMD unveiled its first Zen 6 server CPUs, led by the 256-core Epyc 9996, as part of the Venice lineup.

The company says Venice will cover multiple socket and performance tiers, including SP7 and SP8 platforms.

AMD claims the new chips beat Intel Xeon 6 and Nvidia Vera while pushing up to 16-channel memory support and 1024 MB of L3 cache.

Some Venice variants are expected to exceed 5 GHz, underscoring AMD’s push for more cores, bandwidth, and cache in data centers.
