Lenovo is investigating claims that its China-only G02 retro handheld was sold with thousands of illegal game ROMs preloaded.

The company says it does not officially sell or authorize the device outside China and suspects third parties may have modified it after it left approved channels.

Reports surfaced via Tom's Hardware and other outlets that the handheld appeared on gray-market platforms like AliExpress with preinstalled games.

The case underscores how gray-market reselling can create copyright risk, consumer confusion, and broader supply-chain scrutiny.
