Moonshot AI reportedly trained its Kimi K3 model using Nvidia Blackwell-equipped servers sourced from two Chinese datacenter firms.

The company is said to have linked multiple eight-GPU systems across sites because available high-end hardware was limited.

Moonshot AI also reportedly uses Nvidia H20 chips for inference, while U.S. officials probe how Chinese firms may be accessing advanced GPUs via rentals or remote access.

The report highlights how Chinese AI labs may be working around export controls, underscoring the difficulty of enforcing chip restrictions.
