Nvidia employee detained in Taiwan as part of chip smuggling probe; company says he was held on suspicion of falsifying business documents, calling smuggling 'a nonstarter'

Taiwanese prosecutors detained a man surnamed Chang, reportedly an Nvidia employee, in an AI chip smuggling probe.

Investigators suspect falsified business documents, but Nvidia has not been accused of wrongdoing.

The case appears to widen Taiwan’s chip-diversion inquiry and could draw more scrutiny to the AI chip supply chain.
