UnitedHealthcare Reduces Most Prior Approvals For Pediatric Patients

UnitedHealthcare will cut about two-thirds of prior authorization requirements for members under 18 by year-end.

The change covers many diagnostic services, routine surgeries, and pediatric specialty care in commercial and Medicaid plans.

Some procedures at selected pediatric hospitals will also get waivers, while higher-complexity and experimental care will still need review.

The move could reduce delays for families and clinicians without removing oversight for riskier care.
