JR West and Sagawa launch same-day luggage delivery service, using Shinkansen and trucks to deliver to hotels

JR West and Sagawa Express will launch a same-day baggage delivery trial on June 24, combining Shinkansen and truck transport between Kyoto/Osaka and Hiroshima/Hakata.

The service, called Same-day Delivery WEST, will let travelers drop off luggage at stations or hotels and receive it on the same day at their destination.

Sales will be handled through overseas OTA partners such as Klook and KKday, with bundled options that include rail passes.

The companies aim to ease luggage burdens for inbound travelers and expand tourism demand across western Japan, with plans to add more pickup and drop-off points later.
