Apple is Closing a Unionized Store in the U.S. and the Union is 'Outraged'

Apple will permanently close three U.S. retail stores in June: Towson Town Center in Maryland, Trumbull in Connecticut, and North County in California.

Towson is notable because it was Apple’s first unionized U.S. store, represented by IAM CORE under a collective bargaining agreement.

Apple says the closures are driven by weakening mall conditions, and employees at the Connecticut and California stores can transfer to nearby locations.

Towson employees may apply for open roles under the contract, but the union says it is outraged and is considering legal action over possible anti-union motives.
