Airbnb says AI now writes 60% of its new code

Airbnb said AI generated 60% of the code engineers wrote in Q1 2026, underscoring its push to use AI in software development.

Its support bot resolved 40% of customer issues without human help, up from about 33% earlier this year, while AI search testing continues.

Airbnb also reported higher revenue, net income and nights booked, and said its Reserve now, pay later option made up nearly 20% of gross booking value.

The update highlights how a major consumer tech company is using AI to automate operations, while still showing limits in chatbot-based travel experiences.
