PlayStation ‘Blackout’ Week Is Coming To Protest Sony’s Disc-Less Future

Game preservation group DoesItPlay has announced a weeklong PSBlackout boycott from August 23 to 30, targeting Sony’s plan to end disc production for new PlayStation games in 2028.

Fans are being urged to avoid logging in, playing, or buying anything on PlayStation platforms during the protest.

The campaign is drawing attention alongside growing petitions such as “Don’t Kill The Disc,” reflecting backlash to Sony’s move away from physical media.
