Mitsubishi Estate to fully roll out "trunk rooms" to address shrinking living spaces

Mitsubishi Estate opened the indoor self-storage facility “Kipit Ikegami-Kugahara” in Tokyo’s Ota Ward, launching full-scale expansion in the greater Tokyo area.

The facility has seven floors and 203 units, and operations are handled by Palma.

The move reflects rising storage demand amid smaller homes and a search for new revenue streams among major real estate firms.

It could accelerate related development and broader adoption in urban areas.
