AI isn’t just being forced on us. Even forest monkeys are now a test audience in the name of science

Emory University researchers deployed CapuchinAI, an AI-powered touchscreen station in Costa Rica’s Taboga Forest Reserve to study wild capuchin monkeys.

The system identifies individual monkeys and dispenses banana rewards when they solve tasks, allowing observation of learning, memory, and problem-solving in the wild.

Researchers say the setup keeps animals in their natural habitat while collecting data on cognition without capture or relocation.

An upgraded version is planned to test individual recognition, impulse control, and cognitive flexibility.
