You can now choose how hard Claude thinks before answering your queries

Anthropic launched Claude Opus 4.8 and added effort control, letting users choose five thinking levels from Low to Max.

The new setting gives users direct control over the tradeoff between speed and depth, which can help with both simple and complex tasks.

Anthropic also introduced dynamic workflows in research preview for some paid plans, plus updates to the API and Claude Code.

The changes may improve efficiency and accuracy, though higher effort can consume more rate-limit usage.
