OpenAI bought a voice cloning startup famous for celebrity imitations

OpenAI reportedly acquired voice-cloning startup Weights.gg, which let users create and share AI models that imitate voices, including celebrities.

The purchase price was not disclosed, and the Weights.gg team has joined OpenAI.

OpenAI is not expected to launch a standalone public clone-any-voice product.

Instead, the technology is likely to be folded into existing OpenAI products, reflecting safety and misuse concerns.
