AI Detects “Invisible” Signs of Pancreatic Cancer Years Before Diagnosis

Researchers developed REDMOD, an AI model that scans routine abdominal CT images for subtle radiomic changes linked to pancreatic cancer.

In multi-hospital tests, it flagged disease signals about 475 days before clinical diagnosis on average and outperformed radiologists.

The system could help move pancreatic cancer detection earlier, when treatment is more likely to be effective.

REDMOD still needs further validation before it can be used in clinical practice.
