Advancing the next era of national science

OpenAI announced new support to help U.S. scientists use frontier AI across national labs, universities, and federal research programs.

The package includes funding for Codex, expanded API and model access, and specialized tools for biology and cybersecurity work.

The effort is tied to the DOE’s Genesis Mission, which aims to make AI part of the core scientific infrastructure for U.S. research.

OpenAI says the initiative could accelerate breakthroughs in energy, medicine, computing, and national security.
