Chinese researchers claim solid-state EV battery can charge in just minutes

Chinese researchers say they’ve built a prototype solid-state lithium-metal EV battery with an energy density of 451.5 Wh/kg.

The battery reportedly survived 700 cycles at a 20C charge rate, implying charging or discharging in about three minutes.

If validated in real-world testing, the breakthrough could sharply reduce EV charging times and extend driving range.

Major safety, manufacturing, and commercialization hurdles remain before the technology can reach mass production.
