Sam Altman Opens Up About Telling CEO of Disney That It Had All Been Smoke and Mirrors

OpenAI announced it shut down the Sora AI video app in late March.

Disney’s planned $1 billion investment and major customer relationship with OpenAI will not proceed after the shutdown.

Altman said he told Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro about the decision and cited the need to reallocate compute and product capacity.

Reporting said Sora was losing about $1 million per day and the app raised copyright and misinformation concerns.
