OpenAI is reportedly developing an AI-first smartphone designed around continuous agent interactions, positioning it as an iPhone rival.

The device is said to use custom MediaTek-based hardware, with suppliers including Luxshare and Sunny Optical.

This marks a shift from OpenAI’s earlier non-phone hardware plans with Jony Ive.

Mass production is now expected in the first half of 2027, according to reports.
