Broadcom appoints Alphabet executive as new CFO

Amie Thuener will become Broadcom’s Chief Financial Officer effective June 12.

Current CFO Kirsten M. Spears is retiring; she will remain until departure and then serve as an advisor for nine months.

Thuener joins from Alphabet, where since 2018 she was Vice President, Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer responsible for global financial reporting and financial operations.

Earlier she was a managing director at PricewaterhouseCoopers in transaction and accounting advisory services, gaining mergers, acquisitions and financial advisory experience; Broadcom CEO Hock Tan commented on her expertise.

Broadcom expects AI-chip revenue to exceed $100 billion next year driven by demand for custom silicon; the company works with clients such as Google and OpenAI on custom processors (including tensor processing units) rather than designing complete AI chips independently, and production capacity faces pressure from supply-chain bottlenecks (Reuters).
