ChatGPT's web traffic share dropped from 78% to 54% in one year as Gemini quietly tripled its reach

Similarweb says ChatGPT's share of major AI chatbot web traffic dropped from 77.6% to 53.7% over the past year.

Gemini surged from 7.3% to 26.7%, while Claude rose from 1.4% to nearly 8%.

DeepSeek slipped slightly, Grok was roughly flat, and Copilot and Perplexity stayed below 2%.

The shift points to a more competitive chatbot market, though the data covers website visits only and may miss app and API usage.
