OpenClaw founder Peter Steinberger says a small team is running about 100 cloud-based Codex agents to review code, find bugs, check security issues, and draft fixes or features.

The setup reportedly handled 603 billion tokens and 7.6 million requests in 30 days, driving a $1.3 million OpenAI API bill, mostly on GPT-5.5.

Steinberger says the spending is intentional to explore token-unconstrained development, and the project is open source and model-agnostic.
