Mozilla Defends VPNs to UK Regulators: Why Devs Need Privacy Tools

Mozilla urged UK regulators not to treat VPNs as tools to be suppressed under Online Safety Act enforcement.

In a May 15 response to Ofcom, it said VPNs are essential security and privacy infrastructure, not just consumer privacy add-ons.

Mozilla warned against VPN fingerprinting, app-store delisting, endpoint throttling, or other restrictions that could weaken privacy tools.

It also said broad limits could spill over to Tor, encrypted DNS, and corporate tunnels used for remote access and developer workflows.
