Amazon, Ring sued over alleged privacy violations from facial recognition tools

Amazon-owned Ring is facing a proposed class action over claims its Familiar Faces feature captured and stored bystanders’ facial biometric data without their knowledge or consent.

The plaintiff says the system collected faces from people passing by Ring doorbells and cameras, and is seeking at least $5 million in damages.
