Anthropic taps SpaceX's Colossus-1 data center for 220,000 GPUs to power Claude

Anthropic secured SpaceX’s Colossus 1 data center, adding over 300 MW of capacity and more than 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs within about a month.

The company says Claude users will see higher rate limits and fewer throttles, with the biggest benefits for Claude Code and Claude Opus APIs.

The deal gives Anthropic a major new compute base to scale model training and product usage as competition for AI infrastructure intensifies.

Anthropic also pointed to future expansion plans, including orbital AI compute, along with energy-cost protections and partner requirements centered on secure supply chains.
