Scientists Create “Neurobots” – Living Machines With Their Own Nervous Systems

Researchers at Tufts and the Wyss Institute turned frog-cell xenobots into “neurobots” by adding neural precursor cells.

The engineered living machines developed neurons, synapse-related markers, and new movement and shape patterns.

The study, published in Advanced Science, suggests nervous systems can self-organize in unusual biological settings.

The findings may help reveal rules of cell organization and support future design of repairable living systems.
