State of Decay 3 Trailer Was Essentially Fake, Dev Confirms No Zombie Deer

Undead Labs confirmed the 2020 State of Decay 3 trailer was pre-rendered and not based on a real game build.

Philip Holt said the project was at concept stage and largely existed as a Word document with fewer than a dozen core developers.

The studio also clarified that infected animals such as the trailer's zombie deer are not planned for the finished game.

Holt made the remarks after an alpha playtest for State of Decay 3 was revealed in May 2026.
