Google prepares new upgrades for Gemini Flash model

Google appears to be preparing a new Gemini Flash release, with testing signals coming from LM Arena, Vertex AI deprecation notices, and the Gemini app model selector.

The next model is likely to be branded Gemini 3.1 Flash or 3.2 Flash, and a general-availability launch may arrive soon, potentially before Google I/O 2026.

A newer Flash tier could deliver near-flagship quality at Google’s faster, cheaper model level, improving default consumer responses.

For developers, the upgrade should offer a smoother migration path as older Gemini 2 Flash variants are phased out.
