Hackers tipped off Dutch telco Odido about its own data breach

Odido said hackers used phishing in early February to break into its networks and steal data from millions of customers.

The company initially did not detect the theft and only grasped the scale after ShinyHunters contacted it on February 7.

ShinyHunters later posted the stolen data on the dark web, and the breach also affected business customers.

Odido now faces regulatory investigations and a class-action lawsuit over the breach and delayed disclosure.
