GPT-5.6 Gets a Major Price Cut Starting Today, Up to 80% Off

OpenAI has updated GPT-5.6 API pricing. Luna is now priced at $0.2 per 1M input tokens and $1.2 per 1M output tokens.

Terra gets a 20% price cut, while Sol keeps the same price but adds a new Fast mode with up to 2.5x speed.

OpenAI said the lower prices came from Sol helping optimize production systems, improving GPU kernel efficiency and speculative decoding.

The changes should reduce model-call costs for agents and high-frequency workflows, while intensifying competition in foundation model pricing.
