RIP Fitbit App. Not Just a New Name, New Features Too

Google will rename the Fitbit app to Google Health on May 19, positioning it as its central consumer health platform.

The redesigned app adds a four-tab layout, broader support for devices and third-party apps, and access to medical records.

Google is also rolling out a premium Gemini-powered health coach and more accurate sleep tracking.

Google Fit users will be migrated to the new app later this year, with privacy controls and encryption remaining in place.
