Report: Google and SpaceX in talks to put data centers into orbit

Google and SpaceX are reportedly discussing deploying data centers in orbit, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Google is also exploring satellite prototypes through Project Suncatcher, while SpaceX is pitching space-based compute in its IPO story.

Supporters say orbital infrastructure could ease land constraints and eventually lower costs for AI compute.

For now, though, building and operating data centers in space is still far more expensive than on Earth.
