IBM Bob hits 80,000 developers with 45% productivity gains

IBM says its internal Bob agentic development platform has grown from 100 developers to more than 80,000 users since June 2025.

Surveyed users reported an average 45% productivity boost, as Bob supports planning, coding, testing, and deployment.

IBM is positioning Bob as an enterprise AI coding platform built for regulated environments, with audit trails, security controls, and policy enforcement.

The platform can route tasks across multiple models, including Claude, Mistral, Granite, and IBM’s custom models, to fit the job and compliance needs.

IBM is differentiating Bob from tools like GitHub Copilot and Cursor by emphasizing governance, traceability, and full lifecycle integration.
