Ford GT Mk IV sets Nürburgring record for gas-powered cars

The Ford GT Mk IV lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:15.977, the fastest time for a pure internal-combustion car.

Belgian driver Frédéric Vervisch piloted the track-only car during the run, which reached 193 mph in cold conditions.

Built by Multimatic as a 67-unit, track-only final iteration, the Mk IV uses a tuned twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 with over 800 hp.

The Mk IV's time is third-fastest overall at the circuit, behind the Porsche 919 Hybrid EVO and VW ID.R.
