Sega steps up reuse of legacy game IP, relaunching through video and music; first up are titles like Sakura Wars

Sega announced a new project, SEGA UNIVERSE, on April 24 to reintroduce classic game IPs through video and music.

The first initiative will center on Sakura Wars, which marks its 30th anniversary in 2026.

Sega also teased future plans for OutRun, Streets of Rage, and NiGHTS.

The move highlights how game publishers are extending legacy brands beyond games to deepen fan engagement and brand value.
