iPhone will finally get the anti-theft feature it was missing, one Android launched two years ago

Apple appears to be testing an iPhone theft-detection feature in iOS that could automatically lock the device after a snatch-and-grab.

The system may use sensors like the accelerometer, plus signals such as Apple Watch distance and unfamiliar locations, to spot theft.

It would build on Apple’s existing anti-theft protections, including Face ID checks and delays for sensitive changes.

If shipped, the feature could make stolen unlocked iPhones quickly unusable and reduce the value of grab-and-run thefts.
